About Sanstha

Chatrapati Rajashri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, the son of Late Karveer Hutamata Chatrapati Chauthe Shivaji Maharaj, was a source of inspiration to the institution which was established in 1918. The institution runs 5 Senior Colleges, one Law College, one college of Physical Education, one Hotel Management Institute, 20 Junior Colleges, 45 High-Schools and one Primary School. The main object of the institution is to impart education to the economically backward, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society irrespective of the caste, creed, sex and religion. The growth of the institution during the past 90 years is noteworthy with its motto "Tejo Si Tejo Me Dehi". Shahu Maharaj donated grants in 1918 for building of Maratha Boarding in memory of Karver Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj IV who was humiliated and assassinated in the Ahmednagar fort by the British and cremated on the site opposite to this educational complex. Growth of the institute in past 88 years is consistent with its moto "Tejo Si Tejo Me Dehi"The college has campus admeasuring eight acres with specious buildings containing adequate facilities. The college also provides residential facilities to the students.

New Arts, Commerce & Science College, Parner, Dist. Ahmednagar (M.S.) was established and is managed by Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj Ahmednagar, which is charitable trust interested in education and welfare of society. The trust follows the policy of no business in charity. Its aim is to impart education to economically backward, down-trodden and weaker sections of society, irrespective of cast, creed, sex and religion. The college is committed to make all-round personality development of students through disciplined teaching-learning process. The objectives of the college are in tune with higher education policy of the nation. The mission and vision of the college is to provide low cost quality higher education to rural and economically backward students of the region which are more or less achieved. The college is imparting education by organizing curricular, co- curricular and extension activities with social relevance. The range of programme option available to the students are B.Sc. in four subjects, B.A. in eight subjects, M.A. in three subjects, M.Sc. in two subjects, B.Com., B.C.A & certificate course. The college also runs a study centre of Yashawantrao Chavan Open University, Nashik. The college is affiliated to the University of Pune. The University designs the curriculum periodically. Feedback from the teachers, students, alumni & parent are considered while designing the syllabus. The teachers of the college actively participate in curriculum designing process. Admissions to the various programmes are given on the basis of academic record of the students by following the rules and regulation of Pune University. At the same time reservation policy of the state government is followed strictly. Most of the admitted students are below academic average level. The college has sufficient number of quality faculty to carry-out curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular & extension activities. The teachers on their own level try to help the students regarding their admissions and motivate them to take education. The college adopts a healthy procedure to screen the students aptitude after the admission. The knowledge and skill of the students is evaluated by the teachers during teaching, laboratory work & diagnostic test. The extra classes are arranged for weaker and educationally poor students & additional facilities are provided to advance learners. Every teacher prepares teaching plan as per academic calendar & maintains the teacher's diary. The college, in general, follows lecture method of teaching. The lecture method is supplemented with various learner-centered teaching methods. The evaluation methods are communicated to students. The progress of the students is assessed through test, tutorial, home assignment & term end examination. Due to effective teaching-learning process of college, ten students secured ranks in Pune University examination during last five years. The research is significant activity of college 51 % teachers are engaged in research activities. The teachers are encouraged to apply for financial support from different agencies which has resulted in 37 funded projects. Due to motivation and inspiration given by college, two teachers have completed overseas post doctoral program in South Korea and three teachers have visited Spain under Faculty Exchange Programme. The faculties have 54 publications to their credit in international Journals and 47 papers in national Journals along with one patent. The college has provided good infrastructure facilities spread over 11.4 acre. College has computerized library having student book ratio of 1:30, sports facilities and central computer center. Internet facility is available at various places so that students & teachers have ready access. Recently, college has constructed a laboratory building and women hostel. An attempt is made to ensure optimum use of available infrastructure. The percentage of passing of student is quite satisfactory. Around 35% students continue higher education. Many past students of our college have occupied eminent positions. Drop out rates of college is less than 3 %. Though the college is situated in rural background, the success rate is satisfactory. The college has an internal coordinating & monitoring mechanism, which works through Governing Council of Trust and Local Managing Committee. The college has a number of welfare programmes for staff & students. The management helps to create and maintain purely academic healthy atmosphere in the college. The college plays proactive role in creating awareness about value of education in drought prone and rural area. The main occupation in this area is farming. Farmers cannot afford even necessary expenditure on education of their children. Under such conditions our college is the only point of access to rural students. The college plays the vital role in providing higher education and moulds our youth to face new challenges of the world. Thus college has achieved educational, social & cultural objectives.
